Adoptions at Cheery Cat
Our rescue brings vulnerable cats and kittens into safe foster homes where they receive medical care, socialization, and lots of love. Once they are ready, many of our cats move into Cheery Palace, our adoption lounge in Edmonton, where they can meet potential adopters in a calm, enriching environment.
Cheery Palace is primarily home to our younger cats and kittens who are typically under one year old and who thrive in a social, interactive space. Not all cats are suited for the lounge environment. Some cats prefer quieter surroundings, may need additional time to build confidence, or simply do best in a calmer home setting. These cats remain in loving foster homes, where they receive individualized care until the right forever family comes along.
Our goal isn’t simply to place cats into homes — it’s to thoughtfully match each cat with the right forever family. We believe in quality matches over quick adoptions, ensuring every cat finds a home that’s right for them.

Ah yes, an adoption profile. Very well, we can do this now, please come in and make yourself at home. My name is Jasmine and like the flower and the princess I try to bring an elegant grace to my day-to-day.
Feel free to pick me up and put me on your lap, I don’t hop up unless I am invited. Yes, a neck scratch is just the thing, continue and we shall do this interview. (Editor’s Note: if you scratch in just the right spot she turns into an absolute puddle and oozes onto the floor. Sections of this profile were reconstructed after the fact because you couldn’t hear over the purring.)
I had another family once, you know? Things were going well with them until I got pregnant, then they drove me out to the countryside and left me there. I was less than a year old at the time and scared out of my mind, as you can probably imagine. Eventually, a kind farmer was able to catch me and reached out to Cheery Cat Rescue on my behalf. I was nervous when I arrived at my CCR foster’s house, but they made me feel soooo welcomed; sometimes you have to be reminded that there are good people out there too.
I have weaned my kittens now, all six of them, and I absolutely appreciate having the rescue’s help with the process. They’ll go off when they’re ready and find wonderful homes, but first it’s my turn. My current foster doesn’t have other cats so it’s been a while since I’ve had a chance to socialize with any cats I haven’t birthed; I’m a young lady and a sweet girl so it should go okay, but a slow introduction is definitely warranted. I love human children, even loud herds of them; they’re fun, they’re sweet, they give good scratches. Once a Mom, always a Mom. Unfortunately, I must insist on no dogs; I’ve had enough dog interactions to last a lifetime, believe me.
I am currently staying with foster while I am waiting for my spay. After that, who knows? Perhaps I’ll wind up in the Palace, perhaps someone will come visit me at my foster’s and fall in love. Whatever happens, I know the folks at CCR will make sure my ever after is a happy one.

Sweet as my name, whether we are cuddling in bed or chasing a crinkle ball, I’m ready to be your forever girl.
My name is Sugar Cube and as you can see I’m a catch. Make no mistake, I’m as humble a rescue cat as they come, but with a coat that screams ‘designer’; toss me in one of those cute windowed backpacks and let’s go thrifting, bestie!
I am just about two years old at time of writing, my birthday is early August (which would make you bringing me home perhaps the best birthday gift of all time!) I’m an easygoing girl, if you need someone to help you turn bedrotting into a team sport I am so there, but I definitely enjoy some play in my day (which is a good lesson for you as well!) A crinkle ball, a catnip mouse, a stick with some string on it… don’t tempt me with a good time!
I’m not a particularly chatty lady, so I promise I won’t talk your ear off, but I will certainly let you know when something is on my mind and I promise to give you my honest opinion when you come to me with a problem. I always have time to hear about your day and I will always be on your side when the tea starts flowing.
I’m a shy girl and I appreciate calm in the house so I can’t promise any particular enjoyment of loud and chaotic human children, but an older brood would be fine I think. No Dogs, I have tried that life and it simply was not for me. I do enjoy having a few other cats around, but I can be a bit nervous! Relaxed and friendly cats in the home would be just the ticket, and I would very much appreciate a slow and careful introduction; let’s take the time and do it right.
I am a bit old to show up at Cheery, and I don’t think I would enjoy the hustle and bustle, so you can find me chilling with my foster until I find my forever home. If you would like to meet me, feel free to submit an application or reach out to the rescue.

The perfect garnish elevates an experience from satisfactory to profound. You’ve found her.
First, we don’t talk about the haircut. It was necessary when I came into care, but I will be quite happy when it finally grows back out. My name is Olive and it is an absolute pleasure to make your acquaintance.
I know Pickle just finished her profile, she is my half-sister and I love her dearly. But she’s always SO busy, running hither and yon, exhausting. I prefer my entertainment a little more.. cerebral. I’m a social butterfly, and I love to meet new people, learn all about them, and induct them as furniture. I do so enjoy it when we share “our pillow” at night. My foster said something about.. ‘Boundaries’, was it? I’ve never met her and don’t know that I would care to.
I like to be actively involved in whatever you have going on. Working on something on the kitchen counter? I’m going to need to take a peek at that. Walking somewhere? Don’t worry, I’ll be directly underneath your feet. I suppose I could learn to play it a little cooler, but that will come with time and careful intentionality on your part.
I enjoy play, so a house with another young cat with high energy is a must, I probably wouldn’t be a great fit for a senior or a lower energy cat. Cat-savvy kids would be right up my alley; they’ll have almost as much energy as I do. Dogs I hesitate to comment on, I’ve never met one and would depend on you making sure the introduction goes slow and smooth.
I am currently doing very well on Ziwi Peak dry and Orijen wet, but have no dietary restrictions and so would be down for a slow transition to another food with a supportive probiotic.
I’m just a social sweety stuffed with love. Come visit me in the Cheery Palace for an experience so much more than satisfactory.
